However, Johansson seemed to dismiss the rumors with humor. “I think that’s pretty much the end, isn’t it? Could it be a vampire version of the character? I’m all for that! Or maybe a zombie version,” the 38-year-old actress playfully responded. She joked about the difficult questions the hosts were asking her and cheekily told them that she didn’t have to provide all the details before requesting them to “quickly change the subject.”

Black Widow’s tragic demise in Avengers: Endgame is one of the movie’s most poignant and touching moments, alongside Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man sacrificing himself to save the entire universe. The scene where Black Widow and Hawkeye realize that one of them must be sacrificed to obtain the stone is truly heart-wrenching. An emotional showdown unfolds between them as they rush towards their deaths to ensure the survival of the other. Black Widow ultimately saves Hawkeye by sacrificing herself. Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe understood that Black Widow chose to let Hawkeye live because he had a family waiting for him.

That scene was a key moment in highlighting the tight bond between Clint (Hawkeye) and Natasha, a friendship that dates back to before the Avengers were even assembled. Originally assigned to eliminate Black Widow during the Budapest Operation, Hawkeye and Natasha ended up teaming up to take down Dreykov instead. Over time, they became reliable partners, with Hawkeye affectionately referring to her as “Nat.” In return, Black Widow came to Hawkeye’s rescue in The Avengers when he fell under Loki’s mind control spell. Their friendship is deep-rooted and enduring, with some fans even shipping them romantically. Black Widow’s emotional and poignant sacrifice in Endgame was both satisfying and fitting, which is why Johansson believed it was the proper conclusion to their story.
